Lately things have been going alright back home. Today, while on the phone, my boyfriend pointed out to me that I haven't been creating any 'art', or work, and that he hadn't seen anything that I'd done. I've been feeling really unmotivated lately, but as I mentioned in my last post I really wanted to start touching back on a series that I started during the end of my sophomore year/last summer.

"Love Lost" or something... June 2009.
So I decided that mainting a sketchbook devoted mostly to these shapes is a good idea. I am hoping to try different media and maybe make these things tangible. Who knows. I feel a great connection to these drawings and paintings. I'm yet to figure out what they mean, but I started them when I was feeling like I wasn't quite connecting with people. Perhaps it will stem and grow and mean more shortly. Apparently there's nothing worse than 'meaningless' art...
This is what I've been doing so far...

I found that drawing small shapes then connecting them created the best image and most satisfying amount of 'shape'.

I've also been interning at the Portrait Society in Milwaukee with Deb Brehmer. Most of my time is maintaining the gallery while Deb is out hunting for art/doing extra things. I don't mind it. It's generally quiet and I've been doing a lot of readings for our upcoming show. I met Darryl Jensen yesterday when he came in to pick up his work. He was talking about the Riverwest Artist Association? I do believe... He really got me interested, so I'm hoping to push some work over there and maybe volunteer to help out.
Sorry about the macbook images, but my camera cable has gotten lost some how... we'll figure that out later.
Ciao.
